Deconstructed computer monitor (polarized sheet), iPhone 6, stand, wire
Dimensions: 22 x 13 inches
The setup of this work relies on the physical material of the polarized glass sheet found in LCD computer monitors. Usually an internal, unseen element of the machine, here it is exposed and repurposed, a dark mirror hung on the wall. The iPhone, it’s flash on and ready to record, creates a refraction that spans the light spectrum, seen both in the glass itself as well as the iPhone’s screen. As the viewer changes position, the light bends and moves, the phone’s camera captures or obscures the object of its attention. Perspective and distance is confused, reassembled, and reoriented.
