Deconstructed computer monitors (diffusion glass, diffusion film, chassis), iPod touch, iPod (5th gen), audio, video, salvaged concrete

Dimensions: 28 x 44 x 4 inches

Four similarly-dimensioned sculptural works are laid out on the floor, inviting the viewer to move around them. Glass blurs the contour of the objects under them, and a 5th generation iPod displays an image of Giovanni di Paolo’s The Creation of the World and the Expulsion from Paradise, softened, diffused, appearing more as light than image. The deconstructed monitor chassis contain salvaged, broken concrete, and technological errata–the reflective diffusion film warps perspective and challenges a sense of depth and dimension. In one, a video of industrial processes in extracting raw material from recycled technology is seen double on the screen of an iPod touch. The screen confuses the eye and disorients the viewer.
